Our Head Chef, Santana, and Head Brewer Chris were once homebrewers with a shared passion for crafting bold, complex beers. Together, they concocted a recipe using three types of Rye — Malted Rye, Chocolate Rye, and Cherrywood Smoked Rye. The result? A masterpiece that’s rich, malty, and undeniably special.
Fast forward to our 100th batch celebration: Chris and Santana proposed brewing this gem commercially, and since its debut in January 2020, it’s become a beloved tradition. This deep garnet ale boasts toasted grain, caramel, and toffee flavors, complemented by floral, herbal, and citrusy hops. At 8% ABV, its strength is as impressive as its taste.
And the accolades? Oh, they speak for themselves! Spaniard has clinched awards at the Craft Cup of California, California State Fair, and the United States Beer Tasting Championship — earning the title of California Champion in 2023!
