We were honored to collaborate with Admiral Maltings, who partnered with the legendary Crisp Malt in England to create a limited-edition floor malt from Haná barley – a heritage varietal with roots in the 1842 creation of the first Pilsner beers. Floor Malting is a blend of art and tradition that creates unparalleled flavor in the malt and the beer brewed with that malt.
Admiral Maltings, in Alameda, CA, is the first North American malt house to floor malt this historic U.K. variety, and we’ve used this exceptional Pilsner Malt to craft our Three Crows Black Lager for our anniversary release.
This unique beer is our take on the traditional German Schwarzbier. At just over 4%, it’s dark in color, full of flavor, but soft and clean in character. With hints of espresso and dark chocolate balanced by an earthy hop presence, it’s perfect for summertime – refreshing, easy-drinking, malty, roasty, clean, and dry.
