Restaurant obsessives want to know what’s new, what’s hot, which favorite chef just launched a sophomore effort, where to sip the cocktail of the moment. To answer those questions: the Sacramento Heatmap, which will change continually to highlight the best and buzziest restaurants the capital has to offer. And, realizing that there’s much more to eat than can be found at city center, the heatmap has now expanded to suburbs like Roseville.
The Sacramento Heatmap is updated quarterly. Summer’s update brings a completely new crop of hotspots, from barbecue to acai bowls to avocado toast.
The most recent opening on this list is Alaro Brewing, which has taken over the space of one of Sac’s original craft breweries, Rubicon. Patrons will feel a tinge of nostalgia as the industrial interior has not been changed beyond recognition, just updated. Alaro has opened with six beers on tap, with plans for at least six more. Also in the works is a house-brewed kombucha. Chef Jason Azevedo is well known locally for his butchery and charcuterie skills, so expect bar bites ranging from mussels with housemade chorizo to charcuterie platters with sausages and pâté.
